I seccumbed to the cell spirits!

I never thought I'd be where I am with mobile phones, but here I am. I have arrived.

It started a long time ago with a pager for work at a professional venue. Then a cell for work as a regional copier service technician. The need waned until I was taking care of my mother and father on trips for a safety net. Then I was kinda hooked.

Well the last iteration for a device happened 9 1/2 years ago. I purchased a new car with blue tooth and my current device wasn't 911 traceable. So I upgraded to a device with those features and a slide out keyboard for texting. Since getting an e bike, I have managed to drop the phone twice. The latest time saw the phone face down in the street with the back cover sliding one way and the battery another. I put it back together and checked it worked. But the keyboard was hanging a bit when opening. Problem 1!

The plan I was on was a vestige of a now defunct company bought by Verizon. Simple, cheap and no internet. Restrictive to a point. Problem 2!

Some businesses were adopting the use of smart phones as payment means, security monitoring, device unlocking, and more. Many people I know use them productively, too. My service provider was changing my decades old plan and increasing the cost. A limit on pre-4G device support was announced. It was as if I was under a tech intervention onslaught. Problem 3!

So I decided a week ago to change it all. I ordered a phone I saw as compatible with me. A Pixel 4a. Researched a plan to allow internet access I could live with. Then pulled the trigger. So yesterday I got my new phone and set up the new service plan.

I then knew I'd have to say good-bye to my 9 1/2 year old companion. Kinda sad. But when I turned around I saw a different cellular future for me.

Now, being an older citizen of the world, its early days yet on my successful cellular transition. I have a lot to learn. Especially on how not to drop my cell when biking! I believe I have that covered now.

Extra! Extra! 2020 is coming to end!

We are survivors!

It was getting a bit hairy for a while, but here we are. I have been avoiding COVID 19 like the plague. Now we are tasked with waiting for our turn for the vaccine jab. It isn’t predictable. As there are about 330 Million of us, that would mean 660 million doses are needed. So with shipments of 1 million or more projected, I see where it will take time. Just like everything else important. So don’t get your nickers in a knot, and exercise some patience.

When the going gets tough…..

If you haven’t realized it yet, we have to know our own limitations. It is plural for a reason, as we have many. This helps us relieve an impairing stress. So ban any intolerance's you hold, and roll with it as it is healthier. I miss a lot of the social activities, too. But I feel better forgoing them to respect others.

My G.O.A.T Teacher

I have learned most of the valuable lessons for life from one teacher. These lessons have been the most true and honest for my life. I am eternally grateful for his life as guidance for mine. So I am celebrating his birthday the 25th of December and the text book for my review of his works.
